A Year To Pursue, Overtake and Recover!

On this new year day of 2022, many of us may be in the place of David in Ziklag. (1 Samuel 30). David has been hiding from Saul who wished to destroy him absolutely out of jealousy. David had helped to preserve Saul and his kingdom. Yet Saul sought to kill him. In 1 Samuel …
show morechapter 29, David had followed the Philistine King Achish to join hands with him in his battle against Israel in return for the covering he had provided for David. Even there, he was rejected by the Lords of the Philistines. And now as he returned home to Ziklag, he found that his settlement had been burnt down and the property and wives and children of his team carried away. He wept. His followers considered killing him in mutiny. Remember that God had anointed David as the next king of Israel. David did not apply for the job. His own father did not shortlist him for the job. And as soon as God anointed him for the job, his problem started. Just like Joseph. Like Job. So, I say no, you are not necessarily in your Ziklag because you did wrong. You are not guilty. God is not punishing you. Jesus was already punished more than enough for your sin and mine. Ziklag is a testing ground and a launching pad for promotion. This year 2022, in many countries all over the world, many Christians, as well as others are saying Happy New Year in subdued tones, saying “thank you” to God but with a lump in the throat: from the terrorist-infested Nigeria to the bloodthirsty junta of Myanmar and the pestilence that lurks in the noon-day through mindless sporadic shootings and rising child abductions in America, survivors of 2021 say Thank you God for letting us be alive in 2022 with lump in the throat. For instance, in the dying hours of the year 2021, in Colorado USA, thousands were forced to flee their homes. Within minutes, about1000 homes were wiped out in Boulder County by a fire that came suddenly and spread so fast. But in this ‘Ziklag’ of Colorado as in the one of David, there was a miracle. Just as in the Ziklag of David, No life was lost in Colorado Here is the Word of God for year 2022. Outstanding victories await the people of God who have been in Ziklag. It is the year of Restoration, the year of Recovery for the people of God. This year the Lord is continuing to make a separation between those who are on the Lord’s side and those who are not. Those who are on the Lord’s side need, in 2022, to do like David in Ziklag: He (1) encouraged himself in the Lord. In spite of the efforts of his enemies, God spared his life as well as his entire team. Rather than be despondent concerning his material losses, David turned to the Lord: “shall I pursue shall I overtake, shall I recover?” (2) As he pursued. David was not too much in a hurry to show compassion. He had room for compassion for the stranger, for the homeless, for the weak, for the helpless. In spite of his loss, he stopped to show mercy to a helpless sick and hungry stranger who was not even part of the Covenant. The Lord says 2022 is the beginning of our season of Restoration and our year of Recovery of all the enemy has stolen from us: our freedom, our prosperity, Righteousness in our governments and all that make for our peace on earth that the enemy has stolen from us. We must take the fight to the high places and tear the devil’s kingdom down. However: • We must pursue boldly by the prayer of faith. We must overtake through offensive not defensive prayer against all the giants of doubt, fear and unbelief on the way and recover all the spoils of the victory at Calvary. • Here is the icing on the cake. We will recover what the evil people have stolen through the demons of greed and avarice. Wicked people in power, acquiring and hoarding, will lose all and the people of God will rejoice again as a sudden end comes to the camp of the enemies of God and His people on earth. • As we march forward, as the Army of God, fully possessing the mind of Christ, our commander we must look out for the abandoned Egyptian on our way. Happy New Year 2022.

Who are we fighting against?

In Romans 15:30, The Holy Spirit moves in Paul to urge: “Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me. To “strive” means to agonize and to agonize means to “wrestle, contend, fight”…
show moreWhom are we fighting against? Our wrestling is against “principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” Ephesians 6:12, which is to say, against the devil and his mighty forces Why fight? Because resistance will come when we pray. That’s why sometimes when we pray it looks like the heavens are blocked and there is a siege against us. I have experienced this several times. What I have learnt is that this is the time to pray even more. Remember our Lord’s warning that from the time of John the Baptist, the Kingdom of God “suffers violence and the violent take it by force”. Those who would fight for the Kingdom of God must be hungry, must be excited and eager. There can be no giving up, no giving in, no surrender! We see an unmistakable model of agonizing prayer in Elijah because a he prayed down the Promise of God the He would bring rain. We know that Jesus is the Solution and He has given the unfailing weapon of prayer. What is more, as we stand on His Word in faith in prayer He continuously supplies the Grace to continue standing until the Finish line. There is no asking without receiving, there is no seeking without finding, and there is no knocking without the door being opened. Amen
The Ten Lepers

Luke 17: 11-19 – Many are called. Few are chosen. And many are healed, but few are made whole! What’s the difference? Only one of the ten lepers came back to Jesus, and sought to become closer to Jesus in gratitude. He was healed from afar, he came close to fall on Jesus feet to”…
show moreTo be made whole is to become a worshipper of Jesus Christ and you cannot worship Jesus from afar; you’ve got to come close. The ten lepers knew they had a disease and they wanted to be rid of it. Third, they had faith that Jesus could heal them of the disease. Reader, do you recognize if you have any disease? And do you want to be healed? Sin by the way is like the disease of leprosy. To be healed we first must acknowledge the fact that it is a disease and desire to be healed of it. With their healing, the ten lepers became physically fit – All of them. Outwardly, they were all the same, physically clean from leprosy! Nine of them had got what they needed – release from their leprosy. Having got that why bother? They could just go from there to enjoy life. The inside of the nine former lepers remained the same: the inside of the one experienced change. He experienced conviction. The nine went on existing , the one began to live anew, a new life in Christ, a life of gratitude knowing the Healer and being close to Him, and in a position to receive from the Healer of the body, the healing of the soul – a complete transformation. He was no longer a Jew only outwardly but a Jew inwardly as well (Romans 2:28-29 Today, as you read this, get on your knees surrender to the Lord Jesus so He may transform you inside out and make you whole on a continous basis for ever. Amen
Foundations

Psalm 11: 1-3“If the foundation is destroyed what can the righteous do?” Foundations appear to be crumbling right now before our very eyes. They are myriad: Foundations of:• Christian marriages and Christian homes• The Christian Church based upon the Foundation of Jesus Christ, the Cross and the inerrant Word of God• Child rearing based upon …
show morethe Foundation of the fear and admonition of the Lord as ordained for Christian parents. • Governments established on the foundation of equity and justice • Societal culture based on the Foundation of the sanctity of life. When these foundations are crumbling, what can the righteous do? Do what our Lord Jesus says to the Church in Sardis in Rev 3:2 ” wake up and strengthen what remains which was about to die….” We, righteous (the Church) must wake up from stupor and repent! The church is made of me and you those ransomed from Satan and sin or else, judgement will come and come suddenly. In obeying this injection, please do not look on your neighbor, your Pastor or General Overseer or your other Daddy’s. Look only unto Jesus As you read this, please bow your heads or if you are able, kneel down and confess your sins. He knows them anyway. Jesus wants us to come in humility and confess. Follow the laid down the procedure in 2 Chronicles 7:14
Focus On Jesus

Psalm 71: 1-24 To the elderly and those consistently seeking God: Please read this Psalm, meditate upon it and turn it into personal prayer today, As you face troubles in today’s world and seek God’s Help in your desperate call for rescue from afflictions and exceptional troubles in life, the Word of God in this Psalm …

Philippians 3: 13-14: “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” If today, you are, like me, going through some challenges as you try to pursue your vision, this passage will …
show moreencourage you as well as show you what to do. The actual challenge is the problem of “not forgetting”. Lot’s wife could not ” forget”! How can I forget, you ask. How can you forget? Learn from the past but refuse to dwell there. You have confessed your sins. He is faithful; He has forgiven you as He promised. Forgive yourself, forgive others who hurt you. Forget! Forget!! Forget!!! You forget by focusing on the present which is your goal. Please note that Paul was writing this letter to the Philippian Church while he was in prison. Yet the letter contained words of “joy”, ” victory” many times throughout the entire letter. This is because Paul was focused on his vision and would not be distracted by the challenges of the past or present. This reminds us that in order to reach our goal, we must keep our focus on that goal! In spite of the challenges, we must focus and “press towards the mark”!. No matter how long the race, no matter what distraction lies on the way. Remember, the race is not for “the swift”; the battle is not “for the strong” . The battle is for the one who endures to the end, the one who holds out no matter what! But then what is your ultimate goal today? What is your mission in life’? Check it out. The mission, the goal must have to do with seeking first, “the kingdom of God and His Righteousness”. In the pursuit of that mission, stay with Jesus in His Word and press on. Amen.
Requirements for Miracles

Expect miracles as a believer in today’s world? Yes, certainly, Jesus wants His followers to expect miracles. But it is when we announce the message of salvation that miracles happen. When we are about the business of the Lord , he confirms that He is in the midst of His Work by miracles and wonders. Miracles …
show morewere replete in the ministry of the Word in the early Church. Miracles have continued to occur today where the conditions are met. Christ’s followers are to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God as well as demonstrate the power of the Kingdom through miracles such as casting out demons and healing the sick. For miracles to occur, we must believe the Word of God completely and trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to liberate people from their captivity. Sometime in 1995 or 6. when I was Registrar of the University of Lagos, I was sick, as it were, unto death. Something was going wrong in my stomach. The doctors did not know the nature of the problem. There was pain and I could not eat. At a point medication was being pumped into me intravenously. One day a young Elder in our church, the Foursquare Church of Nigeria, Rev. Yomi Adewale, who was then pastoring the Ikoyi Foursquare church came to visit me. He had not known that I had been sick for a while. When he saw me looking gaunt on my sick bed, he was visibly moved with Holy anger. He rushed back to his car brought a bottle of anointing oil, splashed some on my head and prayed with The Word of God in James 5. Verses 14 and 15. He called on God to perform His Word in that text. It was a short prayer and he left. I could not speak out by reason of weakness but I continued to mumble these words “Lord that man is an Elder in Ikoyi Church. He anointed me with oil and said if I have committed any sin it is forgiven and that his prayer as an Elder will heal me. Lord let your Word come to pass in my life now. Heal me Lord heal me according to your word”. I continued to utter those words. After a short while, the pain in the stomach stopped. Soon I was able to eat a little. That is the miracle of healing I received based on the Word of God and the prayer of Faith. Let’s go out there to preach the Gospel and also do the work of miracles in Jesus Name. Amen
The songs of the caged Bird, the hymns of the Psalmist of Israel

Isaiah 48.10 2 Samuel songs of the caged Bird, the hymns of the Psalmist of Israel I once taught a book written by Maya Angelo to a Freshman class in a College in New York. Here is the title: I know why the caged Bird sings. The book is a personal story of Maya Angelo’s …
show more“confinement” arising from the slavery, racism and oppression of her time, growing up. A caged Bird sings to express its longing for freedom. The caged Bird sings of the freedom it needs and lacks. This title reminds me of the psalmist of Israel, David. Most of the Psalms of David were products of suffering and wrestling with God about the sufferings. Psalms 2, 3 and 4 for instance are traceable to the rebellion of Absalom against his father David. The Psalms were songs wrung from a heart under affliction and constitute songs of praise and freedom found only in God. When I was told by my Bishop in 2008, that the Lord was moving him to ordain me as an Elder in Bethel Gospel Assembly New York, I looked at his face in utter disbelief. And he quickly asked if I wanted to pray about it? And I said “sure sir”. And for several months after, I kept asking the Lord several times after, as I wondered how He could possibly be behind such a thing, knowing how incapable I was. One of the things the Lord used to confirm to me that He was indeed the Author of this thing, was from Isaiah 48:10. “Behold I have refined you, but not in silver, I have tried you in the furnace of affliction” Then I came to understand that God refines us in the fire so that we may minister with anointing out of our brokenness. Power to minister before the Lord cannot come from our personal earthly qualifications. Are you going through? There is an anointing that follows when you have gone through because you have won with the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of your testimony. Refinement by fire puts songs of Triumph in your mouth. We “emerge from the fire with a stronger faith and an unrivalled dependence on God” . It is simple but it is not easy. But understand that there is definitely an anointing that flows from your trial of faith that comforts those going through. So with that certain Hope, begin to fashion out like Paul and Silas, songs of praise in your temporary cage! Amen.
